Parent Coaching Services
Support Rooted in Clarity, Compassion, and Evidence-Based Practice
Gentle Roots offers ABA-informed parent coaching designed to strengthen understanding, reduce stress, and create calmer, more predictable routines at home. All services are led by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and grounded in the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Gentle Roots delivers warm, practical, family-centered support tailored to the rhythm of your home.
What Is ABA?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the science of understanding behavior—why it happens, what it communicates, and how the environment shapes it. ABA uses evidence-based strategies to teach new skills, support communication, reduce challenging behavior, and help children become more independent in daily routines.
Today’s insurance guidelines limit most ABA funding to children with an autism diagnosis, even though behavior support can be transformative for children with many different developmental profiles, and for families as a whole. Gentle Roots exists to bridge that gap by meeting families where they are, offering warm and practical support whether they’re waiting for formal services or seeking guidance outside standard insurance pathways.
At Gentle Roots, ABA is practiced in a strengths-based, compassionate, and individualized way. There are no cookie-cutter plans or rigid insurance requirements. Just practical support tailored to each family’s needs.
What Is a BCBA?
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a trained professional with advanced graduate-level education in behavior analysis, supervised clinical experience, and national board certification.
A BCBA is qualified to:
Analyze behavior patterns
Develop effective, individualized strategies
Teach skills in a supportive and ethical way
Coach caregivers through evidence-based approaches
Your services are led by a BCBA with specialized training in autism, early childhood, communication support (including AAC), and family-centered behavior interventions.
What Parent Coaching Looks Like
Parent coaching is a collaborative, supportive process where caregivers learn to understand behavior, build new skills, and create smoother daily routines. Sessions focus on practical tools you can start using right away. Through a combination of in-person and virtual meetings, we’re able to model skills in real time, coach through routines, and provide consistent check-ins that keep families supported between sessions.
Coaching is:
ABA-informed
Strengths-based
Custom to your home and routines
Designed to build confidence and clarity
Flexible and supportive—no insurance hurdles
You’ll learn strategies that are simple, sustainable, and aligned with your family’s values and needs.
What's Included
1
Assessment
Coaching begins with a collaborative conversation to understand your child’s strengths, needs, daily routines, and current challenges. This may include a short video review or observation to see natural interactions and the context of behaviors.
This step builds the foundation for everything that follows, so the support truly reflects your child and your family.
2
Custom Behavior Strategies
Next, you receive a customized behavior plan that outlines practical strategies tailored to your goals. The plan is paired with visual supports such as routines, first/then boards, reinforcement tools, or communication visuals designed to make each strategy easy to understand and use.
Everything is created with your routines, values, and child’s needs in mind.
3
Weekly Coaching Sessions
Once the plan is in place, weekly coaching sessions help you implement strategies step-by-step. Each session includes troubleshooting, adjusting strategies, and celebrating progress.
Families receive encouragement, clarity, and practical guidance so changes feel achievable.
